Happy Holidays From The Perkins Family

We hope you and yours have a great Holiday Season. We had a very relaxing Christmas. It was just us and the boys. We just stayed around the house, spent some much needed family time together, and managed to hit the movies to watch "Alvin & the Chipmunks". Both boys gave it two thumbs up, although we think the best part Nick liked was the butter drenched popcorn!
We did quite a bit of traveling this year and had a great time. The boys and I went to New Hampshire in May and stayed with my Dad & Sue while Carl was on his first trip this year to Germany. We had a great time! It was actually Nick’s first trip up there. Carl flew into Manchester International Airport on his way back from Germany and then we drove to Conneticutt to meet up with Carl’s buddy Dana and his family to go camping. Andy & Nick love to camp! Lots of food, people to talk to, what more could a Perkins’s boy ask for! In August, we were in the New England area again when we drove up to Vermont to see my best friend, Renee get married. Renee and her new hubby Jeremiah had a beautiful ceremony on her Grandmother’s property. It was a weekend long event that included lots of tractor rides!

Andrew, who turned 6 in Dec., started kindergarten this year. He throughly enjoys riding the bus and all of his friends. He shocked us one night when he repeated The Pledge of Alligence without one error. Andy’s biggest excitement this year is that he has lost his two bottom, front teeth. Multiple visits from the tooth fairy has quickly taught him the value of a dollar. Right now he’s all about Spiderman, the color red and Scooby Doo books. Andy is all about helping out and wanting to know how he can earn more money. He loves nothing more than a trip to the Dollar Tree to spend his earnings. We can just not believe that he is now 6, where did the time go! One of his all time favorite things to do is go to the library and hang out.

Nick, who turns 4 in March, has recently taken his role as the younger, annoying brother very seriously. He loves nothing more than to repeat everything his brother says. Nick is starting to talk much clearer now and you can understand about 80% of what he says.He also learned how to pedal his tricycle this year. As much as Andy loves Spiderman, Nick loves Batman. Nice to know that we’ll have two super-heroes taking care of us in our old age. As much as these two eat, we’d prefer that they work at the local burger joint! It is still a little weird for Nick to not have Andy around in the morning. I think he misses his buddy. Plus he has no one to annoy but me and I am not nearly as fun because he doesn’t get a reaction out of me.

Carl is currently training for the Gore-Tex® TransRockies Run in Colorado. Tentatively scheduled to begin June 13th, 2008, the race route is 100 miles, run over the course of 5 days at altitudes ranging from 8,500-12,500 ft. He has been doing some long training runs and is planning on running a marathon before heading out to Colorado. Carl volunteered at this year’s Gore-Tex® TransRockies Run and had a great time doing it. He also made two trips to Germany this year and was able to go to Austria as well. I am so jealous. On the other hand, Carl’s work also required him to travel to the exotic location of Wheeling, WV for a Cabela’s sales contest. Not so sure I’d be jealous of that trip. Carl’s most recent excitement has been winning the championship in his work’s fantasy football league. He’s promising a night out on town at a swanky restaurant; Wendy’s or Burger King, it’s my pick! How romantic.

I am still working at Curves part time. I really enjoy it and it has enabled me to be able to keep the 50+lbs I have lost off. I am also pursuing teaching rubber stamping. I am currently teaching at one of the local libraries once a month. I have interviews at Michaels and Joann’s coming up to teach rubber stamping as well. I am hoping to be able to pursue it as a full time job when Nick goes to kindergarten. I have been teaching quite a bit out of my home studio and just love it. I think this is what I want to do when I grow up. Sure took me long enough to decide! I am also pretty involved in the church we attend. I teach Sunday school every 6 weeks, sing in the choir and help out with other various activities as needed. The people at church are just a wonderful group of individuals. oh, Carl & I renewed our vows this year during Sunday service. It was a wonderful service that my Dad and Sue were able to attend.
